Palekh — “Vera goes to the little table beside her bed and opens a large Palekh box, takes out some money, and finds a handkerchief to wrap it in.
Palekh is a village in Central Russia and a Palekh box, from what I could find, is a type of lacquer folk art.
This book was a dictionary full of words I didn’t know. It was kind of awesome to be exposed to all this new vocabulary.
